Boudoir photography is an incredibly crucial photography movement that promotes women’s empowerment and self-confidence. So why exactly is boudoir so important? The reason is it confronts insecurities and expands self-expression.

Boudoir photography allows women to become vulnerable and find love and confidence in their own bodies; something that many of us may not be comfortable doing.  Boudoir empowers women to love their bodies, accept imperfections, and encourage self-worth. Our imperfections are what make each and every one of us unique and that is what makes us beautiful.

Why do we need to stop comparing ourselves?

As women, we are prone to comparing ourselves to other women. We see magazines of these near ‘perfect’ girls and think “why can’t I look like that?” Yes, those women are beautiful but so are we. There’s nothing wrong with how we and our body look, our imperfections are our perfections. The more we compare ourselves to others the more we shy away from our own beauty. When we do this we begin to see ourselves more negatively and start picking ourselves apart.

The goal of Boudoir is to encourage women to develop a healthy relationship with themselves. We have to love all of us in order to improve our self-esteem and our lives. Boudoir is about self-confidence and more so, it tests society’s traditional mindset of women in lingerie. It is giving the power back to women and how she wants to find the power within her body. It gives back the confidence to women to feel beautiful, strong, and fierce. Boudoir paves way for self-expression and expressing one’s feminity. Self-love is such a personal and unique experience for every woman and boudoir gives women the confidence to feel liberated in their sexuality.
