While some of the clients that stop by our downtown Sacramento boudoir studio have visited us before for previous photo sessions, this isn’t always the case. A majority of the women we meet every day are brand new to us, either having discovered our photography through social media, or through a Google search. We love the ability to make every woman feel beautiful – not just the ones we’ve met before – so this is a wonderful experience for us!
“What’s the deal with posing?”
One of the first questions we get from new clients is about posing. “But I don’t know how to pose!”, they say to us. “I’m not a model!” Don’t worry, ladies! None of the women we photograph are models or posing experts – and their photos turn out beautifully.
Olin’s really great at making you feel comfortable once you get to our studio. In addition from helping guide you on what to wear and how to do your make-up, she’s also exceptional at helping you pose. From your fingertips to your hair positioning down to your toes, and everything in between, she’ll make sure you’re in a gorgeous spot for pictures! She’ll even get down and do the poses with you first, so you can see exactly what to expect from them.
Worried about accessibility issues, or physical limitations? Don’t be! We’ve got all kinds of solutions for you, and we’re happy to do what we can to make the experience as fun and exciting for you as we know it can be. Let us know what we can do to help, and we’re there!
5 of Our Favorite Boudoir Poses
There are so many options for posing, and it was hard for us to narrow this list down to just 5! We ultimately decided to use poses that we’ve found to be comfortable and flattering to a variety of our clients, all at different ages and with different body types. Not everyone can do every one of these poses, and that’s perfectly okay! The most important thing is finding what works for you, and absolutely rocking the heck out of it!
1) Against the Wall
This pose is flattering for a few reasons. The upward extension through the front of the body lengthens, while the arch in the back against the wall creates a gorgeous curve that we can’t get enough of!

2) Upside-Down
This pose is one that you can get a little more creative with, since it allows you to position your body in a way that’s most comfortable for you. The focus of this shot is an upside-down portrait angle, with a little body tease to entice the eyes. Classy and sexy!

3) Sitting Pretty
We have a few different options in our studio for theme, background and mood. One of our seating options is this gorgeous bamboo type chair that we love seeing our clients sit in like the Queens on the thrones we know they are! Artful leg positioning creates a delicious bit of sensuality that we adore.

4) Curvy Lounger
Can you tell that we love a good arched back? These floor poses are a bit easier for some of our clients, because it allows your upper shoulders and booty to support the rest of you. Bent knees, prettily positioned arms, and a great pair of shoes set this off to be a total show stopper pose.

5) The Portrait
Last, but definitely not least, is a classic! We try to get a few of these portrait style shots of our clients because they always turn out so gracefully gorgeous. A little peak of the body to the side is beautiful, but the main event is in the eyes for these shots – the windows to the soul!
